Tuesday Top Five: Five Defining U.S.A. Videos

I have decided to bring back the Thursday Top Ten, but in a somewhat smaller form called the Tuesday Top Five.  Why I did that is two-fold,  1.) It takes me less time to think of five things.  2.) It fuels the debate when I leave obvious selections off the list.

If we did a Tuesday Top Five of holidays, I would probably rank the Fourth of July around the fifth spot. For one, it's my mom's birthday who somehow stays 29, and there are a lot other great aspects of the Fourth for all ages. I remember loving the Fourth as a kid with all of the parade and fireworks, then in high school shooting off personal fireworks, and then in college, another holiday to get drunk.  I love my country as much as the next guy so I tried to find five videos that will spell out U.S.A and show these colors don't run.

5. Toby Keith: Courtesy of Red, White, and Blue- I know there are some of you who hate his politics, but can't we all agree this song just feels like America?  It talks about taking names and kicking ass all over the world. America.

4.) Rock, Flag, Eagle- Charlie Kelly is one of the best comedy television characters in the last decade. When he goes American on everybody's asses, it's one of the best ever.  He leaves us with a chant that the future generation will say.. Rock Flag, Eagle.

3.) Rocky defeats Ivan Drago- There were a lot of options for this third spot. Hulk Hogan. 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan, but I went with what ended the Cold War, Rocky taking down Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.  I really didn't get a good video of him putting down Drago instead, I went with the awesome training montage. So 80s!

2.) The USA defeats Algeria- Oh non-soccer bros U MAD?  Seriously, how awesome was this moment?  (First time seeing that video from South Africa, incredible. Also hearing vuvazelas again made me cringe).   People from sea to shining MFin sea were screaming USA at their lungs. I still stand by the claim that if the USA makes a deep run in the 2014 World Cup, it will be the absolute talk of the sports world. PS I still get chills watching this video

1.) Bruce Springsteen: The Rising- The best way to describe America.  It's crazy to think that 9-11 happened only ten years ago, and there are still people recovering from it.  This song told everyone it was going to be alright, and the USA would be okay.
