SnoTap Baseball Thing of the Day: Michael Pineda's Substance & White Hot Jose Abreu

If something happens out of the ordinary in the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry, it becomes a national headline. I believe there is actually legislature in our United States Constitution saying such things. Michael Pineda pitched marvelously for the New York Yankees last night, but he was also something that looked like pinetar on his hand basically doctoring the ball. Was Pineda cheating? Likely.  But everybody cheats in baseball don't let anyone tell you differently. Adds to the rivalry.  (h/t @JFeitelberg)

Some people worried about Chicago White Sox's super rookie Jose Abreu's start to the season. People realized it might take some time to be great, but he announced his arrival in the last three games against Colorado and Cleveland. On Tuesday night, Abreu socked two homers with five RBIs. One of those homers ripped the cover off the ball which is pictured below. On Thursday, he hit two more homers against Cleveland in another White Sox win. Abreu is one of the favorites to win American League Rookie Year and he is making a case already in the first two weeks of the season with 14 runs driven in and four home runs.
