Brewers-Giants Preview (7/27-7/29)

We are running back the previews from last season where we feature the pitching matchups, five things to watch and a prediction. Recaps from last series will be added as we are getting rid of Highlights-Lowlights in favor of The BrewCap which are 300-500 word recaps after the game. I am also going to add the road series too because it's the same team and why cause any more work.

Probable Pitchers
Monday: Kyle Lohse vs. Chris Heston 9:15 pm FSWI
Tuesday:  Wily Peralta vs. Matt Cain 9:15 pm FSWI
Wednesday: Mike Fiers vs. Jake Peavy 2:45 pm FSWI

Five Things to Watch
1. The return of Wily Peralta - It's good to have Wily Peralta back in the rotation. This likely will be end of Kyle Lohse's time with the Brewers after his Monday start. Peralta seems more than ready to have a strong finish to a rough 2015 season. Before heading on the Disabled List, Peralta had five of six starts where he allowed two or less runs, the problem for Wily was Milwaukee could not score runs for him. At the time, he had the worst run support in the league.

2. Dealing with the big bats of San Francisco - For the month of July, San Francisco has five batters hitting above .300 with Buster Posey leading them all with a .400 average for the month. Brandon Crawford showed the big bat this month with four homers. San Francisco, known more for their pitching, is one of the best hitting teams in baseball this season. Giants are second in the majors with hits and batting average. The frustrating thing is they keep coming at you as the Giants don't rely on the long ball very often.

3. Brewers cannot drive in runs anymore - What an absolute struggle it's been for Milwaukee to get runs in as their offense went from explosive to quiet as a church mouse over the weekend. Milwaukee had run totals of three, two, zero and zero against a weak Arizona pitching staff. Brewers would have been shut out three times this weekend if it weren't for Ryan Braun's ninth inning three run homer.

4. Milwaukee's lack of success against San Francisco recently - One of the recent teams to give the Brewers some issues has been the World Champion Giants. They hold a current six-game winning streak against the Brewers which spans two years. Last time at AT&T Park, San Francisco embarrassed Milwaukee scoring 15 and 13 runs in two of the three games. Two of Milwaukee's pitchers this week, Lohse and Peralta, were on the losing end of those blowouts.

5. 40 hour work week and 9:15 baseball games - So I usually stay up pretty late that shouldn't be a secret to any of you as I'm seen tweeting at 1:30 in the morning. That being said, it's rough to not start playing baseball until 9:15 on Monday and Tuesday. That means getting home from work and the gym, I still won't have baseball until two hours after. Don't mind me while I bitch about my first world problems.

Prediction
Milwaukee cooled off in a big way in the last week. They cannot score with runners in scoring position, and I don't feel good about this series. They take Wily Peralta's start, but that's all they get against a warm Giants team.
