The BrewCap Vol. 99: Brewers Fall Back to Earth

The BrewCap will recap the Brewers game on the day of the game replacing Highlights-Lowlights. I felt like those got too repetitive and people missed out on what actually happened. The schedule is varied on these unfortunately due to me having a life. Best hope is they are up the day of the game, but sometimes, it bleeds to the next day. Deal with it.

On Wednesday, Milwaukee went into their game with Cleveland winning 17 of their last 23 games and having people wonder about how good this team actually was versus their record. Since then, Milwaukee lost five of their last six heading to yet another losing streak as this theme continues on per month. Milwaukee gets hot for a little bit then a losing streak comes in and screws everything up for the team.

Player of the Day (Diamondbacks) Jeremy Hellickson (P): Another day, another Arizona pitcher dominating the Milwaukee bats. Hellickson went six strong only allowing four hits and struck out six batters with walking three of them. Hellickson pitched well throughout the six inning with Milwaukee not having much of a threat minus the third inning. He's been terrific for the month of July with only a 2.50 ERA in five starts allowing only five runs.

Not Player of the Day (Diamondbacks) -
Aaron Hill (2B): I am not really sure what Chip Hale thinks he has with Aaron Hill. It seems like he's a bit washed up playing the second basemen position. Hill is batting .216 for the season and went 0-for-4 this afternoon only talking a total of 13 pitches. If anything, he should be batting way lower in the order.

Player of the Day (Brewers) - Matt Garza (P): I know he didn't finish his start the best way giving up a two-run double to Chris Owings, but Garza pitched well enough to win this baseball game. He went five and two-thirds allowing seven hits and striking out five batters while walking three. Garza looked good for the greater part, and I would like to believe he's back to pitching at the level we saw him at last season.

Not Player of the Day (Brewers) - Khris Davis (OF): It's expected when Milwaukee trades Gerardo Parra this week that Davis will take over the role in left field. I hope today wasn't a sign of things to come. Davis had four strikeouts in the game plus an error on a line drive hit right at him with two outs. Davis looked like complete shit. I'm all for getting rid of Parra, and if they do, expect Milwaukee to take a long look at Davis.

When The Game Turned -  Sixth inning. This became a manager's game in the sixth inning for both teams. Hale beat Craig Counsell as he took out Hellickson for the pinch-hitter Owings who lined a double scoring two runs. Counsell should have removed Garza from the game and put in Neil Cotts even if Owings is a right-handed batter. Counsell got out coached by Hale in that inning and it proved to be the difference.

What to Watch - 100th game of the year and Milwaukee heads to always dangerous San Francisco
