Brewers Weekend Report: Dissatisfying San Diego Split

Last week, Milwaukee Brewers played four games versus Cincinnati where it felt the Crew was lucky to get two games. This weekend, Milwaukee really should have won three games but ended up with two. Their record sits at 16-22. Milwaukee did see some encouraging signs though this weekend. Here were the five things worth talking about from the weekend.

1.) Ryan Braun's sore wrist - After all this talk about Ryan Braun's hot start, he goes out late Saturday with a sore wrist. Braun didn't play on Sunday but was available to pinch hit. You figure he should be back in the lineup by Wednesday, but it's good the injury doesn't appear to be very serious.

2.) Guerra and Davies pitched well - This is an encouraging sign for a roughed up rotation when two pitchers, Junior Guerra and Zach Davies, pitched into the sixth inning. Davies had his best outing of the year, and Guerra pitched well for the third consecutive start.

3.) Wily Peralta is a mess - Milwaukee appears done with Wily Peralta for the time being. Not sure what the plan of action will be as no one in the bullpen could really take over the starting role. I cannot really think of one player they could move besides Chris Caupano who hasn't been good all season.

4.) Kirk Niewenhuis continues to love Miller Park - Kirk Niewenhuis has a thing for Miller Park. He's hitting around .378 at The Keg with a couple homers. He's a big fan of his home stadium.

5.) Jonathan Lucroy's power swing is back - Lucroy hits two home runs in two days and now has four home runs in the last week or so. He's really feeling it at the plate. Lucroy finally woke up and started hitting dingers again.
