Meet the Newest Brewers Minor League Talent

Whenever a big trade happens involving one of my teams, I like to read the comments of the other team usually on SB Nation's team site because their fan base is a little more level-headed than what we see on a newspaper's site. It was funny to read it because at first everyone freaked out about losing Brett Phillips, and then they talked themselves into 'Well he might not be a good big leaguer.' Which I have done before, see Laporta, Matt.  Let's take a look at all of these players.

Brett Phillips (OF): First thing, the middle name on him is Maverick which equals automatic success.  But in reality, Phillips haven't developed his power yet, but he's a two-way player who will have some similar skills as to what Carlos Gomez did for the team. He's a top 25 prospect in all of baseball right now. It seems like Phillips has some swagger in him as well. And he's a good defensive outfielder already. Additionally, Phillips hitting left-handed is an added bonus. Before leaving, Phillips had hit .455 in his last five games with Houston's Double A team.

Josh Hader (P): This will be the second time he's been traded in his career with getting dealt from Baltimore in the Bud Norris deal. People didn't know what they had in Hader. He came one strong pitching well in a really tough California League on pitchers. And this season, he holds a 3.1 ERA in Double A currently at age 21.  Hader has an interesting delivery which gives me a little pause, but it's nothing to really be concerned about at this point. Hader can touch it at the high 90's.  So two years from now, Milwaukee looking at Peralta-Nelson-Jungmann-Hader-Hellweg?  Oh my.

Domingo Santana (OF): Milwaukee taken in some projects for batters, and it's paid off for them in the past. The thought is the same for Domingo Santana. I feel like it makes no sense to have him in Colorado Springs for the end of the year. He might as well head up to the big leagues and take his licks for the next couple of months. Santana is hitting AAA pitching pretty well with 16 homers and an on-base streak of 43 games. The strikeouts are a problem in the big leagues, but that's one of those things that can work themselves out with time in the majors.

Adrian Houser (P): He's sort of the final piece of the puzzle. Houser isn't having a good season in the minor leagues, but it's not like he's some old prospect who hasn't put it together. Houser was a second round pick for Houston, and he had his best start of the season last time around with a seven inning performance. He's still a top 20 prospect in the deep Houston's farm system. I"m not going to hate on something like that in a four-player deal.

Charlie.
