Brewers Deal Gerardo Parra to Baltimore

One of the teams who were in on former Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Gerardo Parra from the start was the Baltimore Orioles. They got Parra for Zach Davies, a young pitcher, the third-best prospect in Baltimore's system. There were reports Milwaukee offered Parra a contract extension but his agents are deciding to play it out until the offseason. Parra will be the everyday left-fielder, and this will allow the Orioles to bat Manny Machado second or third versus leading off. Machado would prefer it that way. He could see some time in right field as well. Parra joins an Orioles team sitting one back of the second American League Wild Card spot, and 5.5 games behind the AL East leading New York Yankees.

Brewers get Davies, a right-hander who holds a 2.84 ERA in Triple A, and is believed to be a back-end of the rotation starter. He's a small dude at six feet and 150 pounds yet he has three pitches currently with a fastball, curveball and change-up. The only real knock on Davies is he can't control the fastball as well as he should on a regular basis. I am venturing a bet you will see him up in the big leagues before the year is done.

Charlie.
