The BrewCap Vol. 98: Rubby Roasts Brewers Bats

The BrewCap will recap the Brewers game on the day of the game replacing Highlights-Lowlights. I felt like those got too repetitive and people missed out on what actually happened. The schedule is varied on these unfortunately due to me having a life. Best hope is they are up the day of the game, but sometimes, it bleeds to the next day. Deal with it.

Once again, Milwaukee found their bats to go completely silent for  the third straight game. Brewers fell back to earth offensively over the last couple of days with clutch hitting going by the wayside. And to make matters worse, Adam Lind's lower back flared up and left the game in the second inning. Lind isn't in the lineup this afternoon.

Player of the Day (Diamondbacks) Rubby De La Rosa (P) - One of the best pitching performances by the young Dominican right-hander. De La Rosa had his second straight encouraging start after the All-Star Break. De La Rosa went eight innings strong only allowing four hits, striking out six and walking two batters. Brewers had no answer for De La Rosa all game long. He was much better than what we saw from him at Miller Park in late May.

Not Player of the Day (Diamondbacks) -
Ender Inciarte (OF): Not the best day in the offense for Inciarte. He got caught stealing third base in the third inning, and Taylor Jungmann picked Inciarte off second base in the second. He also added a strikeout if you thought his day wasn't worse with the caught stealing and picked off.

Player of the Day (Brewers) - Taylor Jungmann (P): Once again, a solid start from Taylor Jungmann. The crazy thing is Jungmann only gave up one hit after the first inning. He did walk four batters, and that's starting to become a slight concern as he walked two or more batters in six straight starts. Jungmann walked seven batters in his last two starts. It's definitely something to keep an eye on. He did strikeout seven batters though.

Not Player of the Day (Brewers) - Gerardo Parra (OF): First rough start for Gerardo Parra in a long time. Parra had three strikeouts in the game and had an opportunity to tie the game up in the ninth inning with the bases loaded with two outs yet Parra couldn't deliver for the Brewers. Can't really be upset at Parra though because he's a big part of Milwaukee's success this month.

When The Game Turned -  Third inning. Milwaukee began the inning with two base hits from Jungmann and Parra only to have Jonathan Lucroy hit into a double play. Ryan Braun would strike out and that would end the inning. Milwaukee really didn't get a great chance after that inning until the ninth. Lucroy has grounded into 13 double plays this season which matches his number from all of last year and close to the lead in the National League. Not what you want from a two hitter.

What to Watch - Matt Garza tries to duplicate what he did last week and what he did against Arizona in the 17 inning marathon at Miller Park.
