What will call this... GomezGate? Or just simply TradeGate? Maybe HipGate? We are hearing a couple different things right now. First, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haurdricourt believed the concerned stemmed from New York Mets pitcher Zach Wheeler's surgically-repaired elbow. People said this made sense given Wheeler's Tommy John was not like other ones, a little more ligament damage.
Hipaa laws prevent Melvin from saying what nixed trade but it obviously was a concern over Wheeler's Tommy John recovery.

BUT THAT'S WRONG. In fact, New York Mets who aren't known to have a great medical staff, said there was an issue with Gomez's hip. I don't even remember being aware of Gomez having a hip issue.
Apparently, there is a hip and groin problem that scared them off. Carlos has missed a total of one game since the apparent issue with the hip and groin. Mets killed a deal over a non-injury, what a world.
Charlie.
