BrewCap Vol. 32: Fernandez Plows Through Milwaukee

Miami Marlins took two of three from Milwaukee last week at The Keg. Brewers had a chance for a little revenge this week in Miami. It didn't happen on Monday as Jose Fernandez found his rhythm and mowed down Milwaukee. Good bounce back win for the Fish as they lost two straight against Philadelphia last weekend.

Player of the Game
Jose Fernandez (P) - What a night for the Marlins' ace. One of the best outings in 2016 for the young right-hander. He went seven innings, only giving up four hits and striking out eleven. The only real inning where Fernandez saw some trouble was the first inning. He soared after the first, and Milwaukee really didn't have an answer.

Golden Sombrero Winner
Collin Walsh (3B) - I know Walsh is a Rule 5 pick and we're in a real Wei-Chung Wang situation yet Walsh isn't very good. He had the legitimate golden sombrero tonight with four strikeouts. Walsh's average is down to .098. I have to think the Brewers have a better option in Triple A.

Highlight: Good news, Wily Peralta looks okay - I'm not ready to say Wily Peralta is back, but he showed some good signs tonight. Peralta gave up two runs in six innings of work. He did give up nine hits but found a way out of it multiple times. Peralta still needs to learn how to strike people out again.

When the Game Turned: Granted who knows if Milwaukee gets a run off Fernandez, but Milwaukee gave up a run in the sixth inning with only one ball leaving the infield. That cannot happen. Brewers defense needs to be tighter especially with the few mental errors.

Next up
Milwaukee will see Adam Conley who threw a near no-no last time facing the Brewers. Zach Davies heads to the mound again. He was much better versus Los Angeles so we'll see how he does on the road.

Charlie.
