BrewCap Vol.39: Anderson Nearly No-Hits Chicago

Sometimes in a rebuild, you need memorable, feel-good moments during the season as well. Chase Anderson nearly no-hit a team projected to win 121 games. Anderson came within six outs left to go before Ben Zobrist broke it up in the eighth with a double to the wall. This also ends Chicago seven-game Miller Park winning streak.

Player of the Game
Chase Anderson (P) - This is a pretty obvious one. Anderson goes nearly the distance with a no-hitter in tact for seven innings. He couldn't finish the game as Jason Heyward and Kris Bryant goes back-to-back in the ninth.  Anderson really had things working last night as he placed his pitches masterfully. He struck out six batters, but more importantly, Anderson only walked one batter.

Golden Sombrero Winner
Domingo Santana (OF) - He looks lost at the plate all of the sudden. Not sure if it's the shoulder bothering him at the plate or Santana doesn't really dig the fifth spot in the order as he likely sees different pitches. Cubs pitchers struck him out three times. This is the third straight start for Santana without a hit.

Highlight:
Milwaukee's pitching staff is getting better - Brewers will always have a sub-par pitching staff yet they are starting to get better as six of the last eight starts were quality ones. This is a huge relief to the bullpen who has been taxed so far this season. Fingers crossed, but it seems this team found five guys who can do a halfway decent job.

When the Game Turned:

6th inning. Milwaukee only led by a run and Brewers began to pile on Hendricks a little bit the third time through the order. They had two runners on when Ryan Braun shoots a double down the line driving in a run. Then Chris Carter rocked an opposite-field double for two more runs pushing Milwaukee's lead out to four. This proved vital as the Cubs would get two back in the ninth.

Next up
Milwaukee gets John Lackey for the first time this season opposing Jimmy Nelson at Miller Park.

Charlie.
