SnoTap's Masters Preview: Charlie & Bryan's Tee Time Draft

As we did last year, Bryan Reynolds and Charlie Tritschler will be previewing The Masters all week. Charlie will cover the international side of things, Bryan will take the American side, our tee time draft and we will talk about The Masters a bit on our Tapping The Keg Podcast. So let's have fun and look dumb!

Charlie's First Pick: Bubba Watson, Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia -  We are not only competing but we are looking for entertainment value as well. Sergio is playing great golf. It pains me like a nail in the head to think he could contend this weekend, but here you go. Donald is one of the forgotten ones when it comes to never winning a major. He isn't playing great golf, but you never know if he gets hot early on. Bubba has done the damn thing before and played some good golf earlier this season. Solid number one pick.

Bryan's First Pick: Henrik Stenson, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson - This is the power group in my opinion. I told you yesterday why I think Dustin Johnson will, and needs to, get into contention this weekend. Stenson was an absolute highlight reel last year. Although it may have been a mirage, I think his talent is real. Henrik and Day are two of the guys knocking on the door to take Tiger Woods’s world number one rank. This would be one hell of a stage to grab it from him.

Charlie's Second Pick:  Patrick Reed, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy - For me, this is about as close to golf porn as we could get with three of the best young golfers in the game. Reed has a ton of pressure going into the tournament with his comments this season. Reed could really back it up and drop the hammer on everyone.  Same goes for Rory and Spieth whom have become the media darlings of this tournament with Woods out. These three guys could be right at the top of the leaderboard come Sunday or all cut. I wouldn't be surprised either way.

Bryan's Second Pick: Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Justin Rose - By this time, you all well know that Phil is my pick to bring it home again this year. The scariest thing about this group is the lingering injuries they might be carrying come Thursday. Rosie has been dealing with some shoulder tenderness but seems to be playing through it, with good showings through the Florida swing. I also find it interesting that the committee threw JR and Ernie in together. I would imagine they are hoping for fireworks like we saw at the Matchplay between the two of them.

Charlie's Third Pick:  Zach Johnson, K.J. Choi and Steve Stricker - Like this group a great deal because I feel all of them will hang around the top 25 by the end of it. The thing is I only think one of them could win the tournament which is Johnson. I doubt he will win it, but he's done it before so it is not out of the question plus he played some good golf this season. But I do think Choi and Stricker will find a way to be involved with Sunday's round. Stricker played really well in Houston for those who didn't watch.

Bryan's Third Pick: Graeme McDowell, Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker - This group gives us another fun rematch from the Arizona tourney. Rickie, who has been showcasing a rebuilt swing, took down Walker, who was crushing tournaments at the beginning of the season. Jimmy has been cooled off the past few weeks but his game suits this course well. I think he has the patience to lead him to a green jacket.

Charlie's Fourth Pick: Charl Schwartzel, Jim Furyk, Thornbjorn Olesen - Easily, the group that makes me the most nervous. We have THUNDER BEAR that has missed the last two cuts of PGA tournament he has entered yet still had a top 10 finish here last season. Schwartzel won the damn thing in 2011 and while he has struggled in last two years afterwards, I still am going to support him. The more I am thinking about, I realize how much I have made a mistake.

Bryan's Fourth Pick: Matt Kuchar, Louis Oosthuizen, Thongchai Jaidee - This is a fun group, and I was pretty damn lucky to grab them at the end of the fourth  round. Kuchar is not only one of the odds on favorites to win this week, but he playing a stretch of golf that is dangerous to contend with. Kuch is constantly at the top of the leaderboard, and after all this sniffing around for majors, he has to break through soon. Thongchai doesn’t have great experience here at Augusta but he is a great international player and has the type of game that could allow him to fit the mold of an early round leader.

Charlie's Fifth Pick: Adam Scott, Jason Dufner, Matthew Fitzpatrick - As Bryan told me in our draft, 'What a disgrace to put an amateur with these two.'  Yes, I agree and hope like hell, this young 19 year old can find a way to make some things happen. Scott could easily win this thing again. I don't have any doubt in the world, Scott could thrown the Green Jacket on himself again. Dufner might not be there yet to wear a Green Jacket winning back-to-back major, but if he gets dialed in, everyone could be in big trouble.

Bryan's Fifth Pick: Nick Watney, Darren Clarke, Stephan Gallacher- This group is going to make me or break me, and I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s the latter. As we learned watching the NCAA tourney play out, dark horses often rise to the top, and that could not be any truer in the world of professional golf. Watney is my boy. I always want to see him capitalizing on his talent, and I think he is truly ready to stamp his name among the best in the world. Clarke is my pick to be the ‘Angel Cabrera’ of 2014. As you will see, he has lost the weight of a whole other person, but his experience could translate to low scores this week. Gallcaher is a guy who has been lingering over in Europe and took down a monster field in Dubai in late January. That field included Rory, one of the big dogs this week.
