Milwaukee Brewers traded Carlos Gomez, Mike Fiers and an international pick to Houston Astors for four prospects. The four players are Brett Phillips, an outfielder and the second-rated prospect in Houston's system. Domingo Santana, minor league player of the year for Houston, Josh Hader, Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2014 and Adrian Houser, another pitcher.
I am thrilled New York Mets decided Gomez's hip was too much of a problem for them. This is a much better haul. All of these players are either 21-22, and not that far away from cracking the big league roster. Four players is better than two plus there is no concerns yet about any sort of injuries plus it sounds like Phillips is another version of Gomez in a way. Much more to come from this trade tomorrow evening.
Charlie.
