Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson received the extension he was
looking for when the offseason began after Seattle lost a heartbreaking Super Bowl. Wilson will be getting paid 87 million dollars over the next four years, and it will put him just under Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the monetary category. Wilson's agent set a deadline of yesterday, and Seattle met it. Now, the fun part begins for the Seahawks.
Seattle will now work on trying to shift their money around. The funniest part of the whole thing is other players are suddenly unhappy. Kam Chancellor isn't showing up to camp as he wants a new deal after TWO YEARS of his five-year contract. Michael Bennett, once again, thinks he needs more money. Seahawks General Manager Jon Schneider will have a hell of a time keeping this whole team together. It looks very unrealistic but he comes from the school of Ted Thompson.
I've been weary of giving Wilson money, but there is no backup plan in Seattle. If the Seahawks made a deal to get a young quarterback this year, I might say test it out with Wilson this year and take your chance. My concern with Wilson is he hasn't played with a bad defense for his career. For his entire career, Seattle has been one of, if not the best, defenses in football. I would love to see Wilson handle a bad defense behind him. Wilson did win some games for the Seahawks in the past couple years yet he's aided greatly by that defense.
Charlie.
